Parkmore Physiotherapy : Physio Keysborough
Parkmore Physiotherapy : Referrals and Claiming

Do I need a referral?

Physiotherapists are primary contact practitioners, that is you do not need a referral from a doctor before you can see a physiotherapist.

Often your doctor will provide you with a letter to give to the physiotherapist to update them on your condition and general health.  Please bring any letters or x-rays with you to your appointment.

We have an excellent relationship with the local doctors and will liaise with your doctor if necessary.

Can I claim my account?

Physiotherapy can be claimed through private health insurance extras.   The rebate you receive is relevant to the level of cover provided by each particular fund.  We are a Bupa preferred provider (Members First – HBA, MBF, Mutual Community, NRMA, SGIC and SGIO) which means improved rebates for Bupa members. Bupa currently have no gap physiotherapy for children under 18 for many of their policies.

In some circumstances physiotherapy can be covered through Medicare.  This service is provided by the Government Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) Programme.

To check if you are eligible for this programme contact your general practitioner.

What if I am covered by Workcare / TAC?

At Parkmore Physiotherapy Centre we are able to claim for your accounts through Workcover and TAC directly.  You will need to provide us with all the information at your initial visit so that we can arrange this for you.

If you have reached your medical excess or are exempt from this please provide your TAC claim no at your first appointment.

What if I am covered by Veterans Affairs or Medicare?

Veterans Affairs gold card recipients are covered in full for physiotherapy expenses.  You will need to bring your gold card and a referral from your general practitioner (D904) to utilise the DVA scheme.

Medicare has a programme called Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) which enables patients with a chronic condition to access Physiotherapy under Medicare for a maximum of 5 treatments per year.  To find out if you qualify check with your doctor.   Bring along your Medicare card and EPC referral from your doctor to your appointments.
